What next for Ageing Khans of Bollywood?

Old. Really Gold?

I am sure this question must have crossed your mind one time or the other. Aamir, Shahrukh, Salman, all three will turn 50 this year. They have been ruling the roost for last 25 years in Bollywood and going strong. Yes, there have been entry of Hrithik, Ranbeer, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, but never did really inherit the charm of the trio.

Give that the trinity will turn 50 this year. A year which marks youth long gone and advent of old age. They are still doing boyish roles. How long can they continue? Not long ago Aamir played a teenager and famously so. Shahrukh is still searching for true love in his movies. Salman can’t break enough bones.

Though they have become a bit realistic. Shahrukh’s characted in Chennai Express admitted his age to be 40 years. That he still haven’t found a girl, let the character romance and woo Deepika, was another story. The essense is plots are being custom written now for them to justify their age. Yet somehow the character ends up doing what a 20 year old would have done. How long?

With the advent of technology, life becomes a bit easy. They are following the footsteps of Rajnikant apparently. All wrinkles, dropping jawline, receding hairline are taken care of by special effects. Yes it adds to the movies budget, but given the returns, it all in the green.

That these superstars take botox injections to keep their faces young is no secret. How long is a puzzle? My guess is they will do it as long as they can. 15 years more at least. They will find some plot justification for their age. Come 2030, Shahrukh would still be romancing ladies, Salman would still be breaking bones, Aamir might end up playing a toddles for all we know!
